Clairvaux MacKillop College is a culturally and linguistically diverse school with over forty languages being spoken by our students and their families.
We support students as they learn English as their second language (EAL\D). Our learners include students newly arrived in Australia as well as those born in Australia who speak a language other than English.
EAL\D support can be offered to those students who speak a language other than English at home and who need assistance acquiring the language skills necessary to successfully access the school curriculum.
The EAL\D program provides academic English support across the curriculum so that students can achieve their cognitive potential. The programme caters for students at varying levels of English language proficiency in whole school, classroom, individual and small group contexts.
The EAL\D program highlights both the cultural and linguistic demands of the curriculum in order to improve the academic and social outcomes for the student.
